Atlanta's Market

The best prom market to date! We had a blast at America's Mart this past week for Atlanta's prom market! We saw the new prom lines from all the top designers and we did all of our buying for the 2011 prom season. The new prom dresses will be released in January. You should come early to get the best pick for your prom because we do register all of our dresses. Hope to see you in January!

We just got back from Dallas Market! We saw some amazing lines and a ton of fresh new ideas. We met with the top designers and viewed all of the new lines. We saw prom 2011 lines from Jovani, Sherri Hill, La Femme, Tony Bowls, Terani, Night Moves, Party Time, and many more. Also, Mori Lee now, Paparazzi by Mori Lee is presenting a new fresh line for the prom 2011 season! So keep an eye out for Flaunt by Mori Lee!

Finalizing the Book

We have spent the last couple of weeks narrowing the pictures down to the 100 that will be in the Prom 2011 catalog. This year this task was very difficult because all of the pictures were phenomenal. We take so many shoots throughout the week of the photo shoot and all of them were so beautiful this year. It is hard to pick the select few that make it into the catalog!

Atlanta's Market

We will be at Atlanta's Market starting August 26th. We have previewed all of the prom dress lines for the 2011 season already and we are so excite to begin our buying for the 2011 season. We are going to have the best prom dresses for our customers for the 2011 prom season!

We are in New York this week looking at some of the top prom designer's lines for 2011. We are reviewing Tony Bowls, Jovani, and Terani. Each one of these designers always brings something fabulous to the table. They have extremely innovative designs and they are not afraid to take risks. This daring technique gives them an edge of the competition. They almost never play it safe so they often have some of the most gorgeous prom dresses out there. This year is no different! We are so enthusiastic about what we saw here and we cannot wait to share it with our customers.

We are very excited to announce that prom dress designer Sherri Hill will be featured in our prom 2011 book! We will review her 2011 prom dress line next week and make our selections for the book. We know it will be difficult to narrow it down because Sherri Hill always presents a fabulous line of gowns. Also, next week we will be traveling to New York! We will keep you updated about what we see there!!!

Faviana is a fabulous prom dress designer, with tons of beautiful innovative designs. We will be reviewing their 2011 prom line and making our selections for the prom 2011 book. We also reviewed Wow's new line today and it is absolutely wonderful! We are so excited for the 2011 prom season after seeing all of the great new prom lines!

We are back in town this week and doing a lot of work for the upcoming photo shoot. Building sets and testing shots to make sure everything is perfect for the 2011 prom book! We are still traveling also carefully viewing the upcoming lines for 2011. We have seen some beautiful prom dresses and we are so excited to begin the photo shoot to show off all the new styles for the 2011 season. The House of Wu is truly a leader in the industry of prom. We finish up today at our first trip for Prom 2011. The prom dresses are even more beautiful this year than last. Yesterday we chatted about Prom Trends for Prom 2011.
The ball gown will be making a comeback in 2011. Full skirted prom dresses have been gaining in popularity in the last couple years and new treatments for 2011, including gorgeous animal bodices, print skirts, and low cut halters can make the choice of a ball gown prom a very sexy choice. Don't make the mistake of thinking all ball gown are sweet little girl dresses, they make a sophisticated red carpet prom look.
If you aren't ready for a full on ball gown, look at A-line styles which will be big again this year. A-lines flatter every body type, from size 2 to 22.

First trip for Prom 2011

It seems like we just wrapped up Prom 2010, which by the way, was absolutely fantastic. (Our best ever.) But, it is already time for us here at Cinderella's Closet to start thinking about Prom 2011. Yesterday the owner and I flew out to Memphis to see Night Moves. Night Moves was a fantastic company last year with beautiful classics and edgy designs, including the gorgeous A308 printed strapless prom dress that was available also as a short prom dress.
Today we have begun the shows for the Prom 2011 line. This is an exciting time as we have the opportunity to see every sample the company has selected. There are more than 600 designs from Night Moves alone, which will be whittled down to the 70-100 pieces that will make up the Prom 2011 Night Moves line. As a leader in the industry, Cinderella's Closet has the chance to shape the trend of prom.
On trend right now: One Shoulder prom dresses are still going to be strong with a new spin of soft shoulder featuring just one cap sleeve. Prints will continue to be a major part of the industry with colors getting more daring and prints bolder. Short prom dresses will continue to grow in importance as more and more girls choose to wear a short prom dress to make dancing more fun. Also, colors this year will be Yellow, Red, Black, Turquoise, and Purple!

We have narrowed the model search down to our finalist! It was so hard to do because all of the girls this year were so stunning! After many hours of reviewing pictures and deliberating we narrowed it down to our 20 finalist! These will be the 20 girls featured in our Prom 2011 catalog! We had nearly 6000 votes for the model search, so we know you all will be excited to see who you voted in! We are so excited about the Prom 2011 catalog and season, and we hope you are too!!!

2010 Prom Catalog

We just received two shipments from our Prom 2010 Catalog! We select the most beautiful and stylish prom dresses to feature in our prom catalog. With over 3500 dresses in stock we try to pick a diverse selection of styles to give you a sneak preview of our store. The two pages that we just received out of our catalog are pages 48 and 106. Both dresses are absolutely beautiful and offer different styles for prom. Page 48 is fully sequined with a intricate detailed back. The vibrant colors used really make this dress stand out and makes it a wonderful choice for prom. Page 106 has a beautiful metallic gold print and cut out sides that combine elegance and sophistication with a modern twist!

Teen Board News

Thank you thank you to our Teen Board girls! Having you all come in and model the prom dresses really helps our customers know what the dress looks like on a body instead of a hanger. It was so funny on Saturday, our Teen Board Model, Ann Marie must have out on 30 dresses in 2 hours! every time she came out a customer wanted to try on the dress she was wearing! We also had Halle, Kayla, Jessie, and Morgan model for us this past weekend.

Also, the Teen Board is doing a great job bringing in customers with their referral cards! Ki-Anna and Sara both had friends come in and buy Prom Dresses!

We are looking forward to another great week and busty weekend.

Prom Season has officially kicked into high gear. With this past weekend being the first pretty weekend we have had in a while, weather wise, the store was absolutely packed Saturday and Sunday. There is no better adrenaline rush than a store full of prom girls! The energy is just amazing as everyone is excited to search for that perfect prom dress. We are proud to have a Tony Bowls Trunk show going on the whole month of February. We have tons and tons, literally over 100 Tony Bowls Prom Dresses, in stock right now. Tony is the HOT designer of the season and this is a great time to come see the biggest selection of Tony Bowls Prom Dresses hanging with the biggest selection of prom dresses period in the Southeast.

Shop to Support Haiti Success!

What a great weekend! We had our Shop for Haiti where we are donating $5 for every dress we sold and we are proud to say that we are donating $340.00 back to the American Red Cross for the Haiti Recovery Program.

I really enjoyed working this weekend. Our staff did an awesome job of giving great customer service and I was very proud of them. When girls are shopping for prom dresses, it is a very personal experience for them and we want to make that experience memorable. I have explained to my staff, that to me, it is very, very important that we have something that no one else has and that happens to be the very best customer service. To me, that is what makes a company special and creates loyalty with customers. When I go shopping, if I don’t get fantastic customer service I simply turn around and leave. I think this may be a dying art because sadly there are very few places I can go and get this precious commodity (Great Customer Service). I feel that each person should be treated as if they were your best friend. Care about this person and help them find the perfect prom or pageant dress. If your best friend came in the store wouldn’t you pull dresses for them, find earrings and shoes and a purse. Get on the stage with them and help them put these things on. Show them your personal favorites and all the latest gowns that just arrived? That is what a customer wants, to feel special and educated on the latest fashions. And I am proud to say that I think all our sales staff accomplished making our customers feel special.

I also want to thank our new Teen Board Members for coming out and modeling our prom dresses for our customers. That really helped the customers to see what different styles look like on the body. I would say overall this was a great weekend with an enthusiastic group of young ladies learning to be great salespeople and to be compassionate about their customers.

Oh La La! New Prom Styles IN STOCK!

Oh la la! We just got in more of the 95007p from Terani. This prom dress is soooo pretty. As soon as we get it in, it flies out the door. The soft and pretty styles for prom dresses seem to be the very “in” thing this year. Strapless bodices always do well because they can fit so many different body shapes. It’s actually the number one style of dress that sells nationwide. If you’re super big busted it can camouflage this for you and if you’re flat busted it can actually give you a bust line. Terani is also great about having dresses in stock; so, I really enjoy working with them. If I need something they send it out the very same day if possible. They also have a style 1318p that is amazing. We just got a load of them in as well. These are probably their 2 best selling dresses in their entire prom line. Be sure to check them out.

Shop to Support Haiti

This weekend we are having our Shop for Haiti day. We will give back $5 for every prom dress we sell. We are hoping to sell 100 dresses. This will hopefully be a donation of 500.00 for such a great cause. The money will be donated to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. It is our responsibility to help one another in such a crisis. Together we can all make a difference. Also, for every prom dress we sell we will be giving out a Free Cinderella’s Closet T-Shirt as our way of saying Thank you! If you know of a great cause that we can be a part of and make a difference, please be sure to let us know about it. We have just started a new Teen Board for Cinderella’s Closet and as a representative of this new board we have also implemented a program to better serve our community. We will have some of our new board members present Saturday to help collect donations for the Haiti fund. If you would like to meet any of our proud Teen Board Representatives they will be there Saturday.

BUY YOUR DRESS EARLY

Wow! Over the weekend we experienced 2 different scenarios of customers wanting to buy the same prom dress. This can be a very tricky situation because you want all your customers to have a wonderful time shopping for that special dream dress. I always have this nightmare of Feline’s basement where the 2 girls are fighting over a dress; then I wake up in a sweat. Prom dress shopping is a very personal affair so it can get nasty, and I mean it can get nasty very quickly. My advice to shoppers would be to make sure to hold on to your special dress and don’t let it go until you are entirely sure that you don’t want the dress. Otherwise, your mind may be made up for you and the dress may be gone and that is never a good situation. So, the lesson to this story is BUY YOUR DRESS when you find one you love.
