It seems like this year has gone by so quickly, but the excitement is just beginning!

This month, we're having a pageant workshop on the 8th for the Shiloh High School pageant. If you're competing in the Shiloh Pageant, make sure you stop by! This director will be here giving tips!

Also this month is the Miss Teen Georgia and Miss Georgia USA Pageants. These take place in Cartersville, GA from the 15th-17th. These young women will be competing in interview, evening gown, and swim suit for the honor of representing their state of Georgia in the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants.

For the past two years, Miss Teen Georgia and Miss Georgia USA have done very well in the Miss USA pageant, placing, at least, in the top 15. We're excited to see the next beautiful and intelligent young women to represent our state!

Who's That Girl: Alyssa Campenella

Have you seen the raven haired vixen in Sherri Hill's amazing ad campaigns? Its Alyssa Campenella, former Miss USA 2011. She seems to be one of Sherri Hill's muses as this is her second time appearing in her ad campaigns. Since her pageant reign for Miss America has been up she has taken up modeling and acting gigs from countless different recognized brands and companies. We love her look and she is definitely a pageant queen to aspire to be like!

Modeling Tips! Be prepared for the Teen Board modeling auditions!

In spirit of our Teen Board modeling auditions this Saturday  8/25 we want to provide a few tips for girls to help them land the position! We hope this helps!

1. Look the part - Wear an outfit that shows off your personal style and personality. Just don't overdo it! The judges still want to see your figure.

2. Show your personality - Teen Board girls will be modeling all of our newest dresses in store, either as a live mannequin or walking in one of our many fashion shows, but they will also be a spokesperson for the Cinderella's Closet company. When the judges ask you a question, speak clearly and with enthusiasm. Bring up any special hobbies, school organizations you are involved in, sports you play, volunteer work you have done, etc. Importantly, be yourself!

3. Practice - Though no modeling experience is necessary to land a spot on the Teen Board, you may still want to flip through some fashion magazines to recreate some poses from your favorite supermodel. Think of this as extra credit and the judges will take notice!

All our 53 Miss America State contestants came out to show their support for The Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant, which was later won by Rachel Yuki Wyatt of South Carolina. These lovely women will take that pageant stage in January to compete for the title of Miss America 2013!

Teen Board modeling auditions next Saturday!

Are you between the ages of 13-19 and want to model for Cinderella's Closet? We have just concluded our 2013 Cinderella's Closet catalog photoshoot and it was a great success. If you missed that opportunity here is another chance to model with us.

Online dress shopping can be tough, especially when you aren't able to preview exactly how your desired dress will look in person and on your body. Here are some tips to make the process easier:

1. Take your measurements: This is the most important factor while online dress shopping. For special occasion dresses sizes are numbers, not S,M,L, and XL. Measure your bust, waist, and hips in inches for the best result. Sizes can be tricky, just because you are usually a size 2 in dresses you could run larger in special occasion dresses. It also depends on the brand. You could be a size 6 in Jovani and a size 8 in Tony Bowls. Remember you are responsible for which size dress you choose to wear.

2. Order as early as possible. Providing the correct measurements are the best way to ensure that your dress will fit but none of the dresses are custom made to fit your exact body type. Allow enough time when ordering for possible alternations.

Quince's over - now what do I do with my dress?

Quinceanera bashes take a lot of time and preparation to get just right and the months before the actual planning takes place, the Quinceanera dress must be chosen. It sets the tone for the rest of the party decorations, theme, and the court's attire as well. A typical Quinceanera dress can run anywhere from $450 up to the thousands, needless to say, they are quite the investment. Now that you Quinceanera is over you may be wondering if you're beautiful dress will ever see the light of day again. As grand all Quinceanera ballgowns are there wont be many other moments where you may see fit for that type of formal wear. Here are some options on how what to do with your Quinceranera dress:

1. Save it - Preserve your dress to pass down to your future daughter or niece. Be sure to buy a XL garment bag or dress box and keep it in a safe place.

2. Sell it - Websites like ebay and craigslist are filled with free classified ads that you can post your Quinceanera dress for another potential buyer to purchase. Keep in mind to keep the price fair, and upload a clear picture with a good description. The more information and pictures you have about your dress, the more likely it is to sell faster.

3. Donate it - If you were lucky enough to purchase a nice Quinceanera dress give back to those young girls who are less fortunate and donate your old gown. Many shelters and organizations sponsor dress drives in your area if you do a local search. Think about how special you can make someone else feel!

Pageant Tip: Think Like a Politician!

Pageants aren't just a beauty contest, the perfect contestant must be a number of things: well rounded, caring, intelligent, and compassionate. The interview question can make or break your chance at winning the crown and some of these questions can be tough to answer. Here are some tips to prevent those pesky slip ups on stage.

1. Research, research, research. There's nothing worse than being asked a question and you have no clue what to say. You don't have to read the encyclopedia front to back but be aware of the current world events. (correct names, correct locations, etc.) Prepare how you would for a final for a class.

2. Know your stance. Pageant judges can ask you any question from your favorite movie to what's your opinion on abortion and you have to have to have an opinion.

3. Speak clearly. Its okay to ask the judge to repeat their question if you didn't hear correctly. Trust us, you won't get penalized.

4.  Smile and be confident. You may wished you can go back and answer a question differently in the end, but whatever your answer is you must believe in it, if you don't, the judges won't either. Even if you're not sure if you answered your best, always give off confidence in your answer and finish with a big smile!

Glitz and 'Natural" child beauty pageants - what's the difference?

Pageant season is in full swing and our phones have been ringing off the hooks from pageant moms inquiring about the lovely little girl pageant dresses that are available on our website. For a lot of these moms this will be the first time they are entering their little girls in the beauty pageant circuit and they have to ask themselves: glitz or natural pageant?

But what's the difference?

Glitz

 "Glitz" pageants, hence the name, are the extravagant style little girl pageants that are shown on controversial TV shows like "Toddlers and Tiaras". The contestants are encouraged to wear makeup, big "Dolly Parton" style hair styles with fake hairpieces, "glitz" dresses heavily decorated with sequins and jewels, "flippers" (fake teeth), and spray tans. Competition is fierce with swimsuit and costume talent portions of the show. The little girls undergo a complete transformation into a life sized porcelain doll and it is quite an expensive investment as well. Some parents spend up to over 100,000/year on glitz pageants for the daughters.

Natural

"Natural" pageants are just the opposite. Instead of encouraging the contestants to look made up, girls under the age of 13 are forbidden from wearing makeup. If makeup is used, it must be kept as light and natural as possible. "Flippers" (fake teeth) are forbidden as well. Most natural pageants do not include a swimsuit portion at all but if so, swimsuits must be one pieces. Contestants must wear their natural hair and pageant dresses are very girly and childlike. Instead of the routine performances of "glitz" pageants an interview is conducted as a way to show the little girl's personality.

She has been involved with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, an organization she supports as part of her pageant as since childhood that raises money for childhood cancer research by organizing head shaving events. As a promise, when she recently reached her $2,500 fundraising goal she has cut all her hair off in support of every young person batting with cancer. She is a true role model and we wish her well on her journey to the upcoming 2013 Miss USA pageant!

For years, promguide has been making hometown girls modeling dreams a reality by giving them the opportunity to represent the Prom Guide magazine and a covenant modeling contract with one of the biggest names in the prom dress industry. This year Alexandria Seymour Williams from Minnesota has been awarded a modeling contract with Tiffany Designs/House of Wu.
